If you have ever had any sort of dental work done, then you have probably had an impression taken. It’s a hard experience to forget. Up until a few years ago, this meant using trays filled with a thick and not-so-pleasant-tasting putty and fighting down your gag reflex in the process. On top of that, it usually involved two or three attempts because of some small void in the impression which meant it had to be re-taken.

At True Smile Orthodontics, we have done away with the goop-and-gag impressions and embraced the future of digital impressions. Dr. Sutton uses an iTero Element digital scanner to capture precise digital impressions of your teeth and bite, entirely free of paste. Since impressions are needed to devise every custom orthodontic treatment plan, design and fabricate clear aligners, select orthodontic retainers, and employ intraoral appliances, these impressions result in a lot of stress-free and gag-free appointments.

No need to retake impressions or have treatment delayed due to impression errors. With the iTero Element digital scanner, a precise scan of your teeth and bite can be captured in minutes, creating a faster and more seamless orthodontic treatment.

Using the most advanced dental technology is just as important as staying up to date on the latest treatment techniques. Because our practice is dedicated to providing you with the safest and most convenient orthodontic treatment options available, we are proud to use Cone Beam Computer Tomography (CBCT) imaging technology.

CBCT is a digital, 3D imaging system that allows us to provide quick, comfortable, and effective orthodontic imaging for precise diagnosis, treatment planning, and the evaluation of certain conditions. The data gathered is used to reconstruct a 3D image of your anatomy: dental (teeth); oral and maxillofacial region (mouth, jaw, and neck); and ears, nose, and throat (ENT).

CBCT technology allows us to take a scan in under a minute but provides enough data for a complete diagnosis. It’s also safer and more comfortable than traditional CT scanners.

In-Office 3D Printers

Clear aligner treatment takes the metal out of orthodontics and gives you an aesthetic treatment option that produces fantastic, lasting results. Often with this type of treatment, aligners are created offsite and shipped to our office, where we then distribute them to you.

However, using our own 3D printing capabilities, we are able to cut out the middleman and create your aligners right here in our office, enabling you to begin treatment sooner and saving you a considerable amount of time waiting for new aligners during your treatment.

Aligners created with our 3D printer are made of the same material as traditional aligners, which makes them just as strong, clear, and effective as their more time-consuming and expensive counterparts. Plus, if your treatment plan ever needs to be adjusted, or you misplace one of your aligners, we can simply re-print a new set of aligners.

3D printing is just one of the ways we are dedicated to improving your overall orthodontic experience. Through advanced technology and our expertise, you can achieve the smile you’ve always wanted faster and more cost-effectively than ever.

Diode Laser

With so many factors contributing to the overall look of your smile, the contours of your gums play a crucial role in the final result. At True Smile Orthodontics, Dr. Sutton uses a specialized diode laser to safely and effectively remove excess or enlarged gum tissue and reveal more of your tooth surface so as to improve the look of your smile. Using the laser, we are able to sculpt and contour the shape of our patient’s gums to provide a better overall appearance to your smile.

Sounds painful though, right? The reality is that the process is very simple and in most cases results in little to no post-op discomfort, and for the majority of cases it doesn’t even require the use of painful and scary needles for numbing. A simple topical anesthetic is applied so all you feel is the slight movement of the instrument tip.

Dr. Sutton may use the diode laser to fix an impacted tooth (one that is stuck below the gums and not emerging into its proper position) or to maximize the aesthetics of your smile by lengthening the visible area of your teeth or recontouring uneven gum lines to provide a more symmetrical and balanced smile.
